History In 1922, the Editor of the magazine " Yachting Monthly" , Major Malden Heckstall-Smith devised a new rating rule which he hoped would replace the International Six and Twelve Metre Rules. He donated a Hundred Guinea cup, fittingly called the "Yachting Monthly Cup", to the M.Y.A. as a challenge cup for International Competitions. The Rating Rule under which yachts were built to race for the Cup was known as the Yachting Monthly 6-Metre, because the rule was intended to produce yachts similar to the Six Metre on a scale of 2 inches to the foot. In 1927, when the International Model Yacht Racing Association was formed, it adopted the Y.M.6-m Class as the International "A" Class.
Here is a list of A Class Champions. Although it
may seem meaningless without accompanying stories, it is a notable feat and
quite an accomplishment. When we get stories and pictures , we will add to it.
